Béla Bartók (1881–1945) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, and ethnomusicologist, one of the most important figures in 20th-century music. His work blends modernist harmonic language with folk music traditions of Central and Eastern Europe. Among his best-known works are the ballet The Miraculous Mandarin, Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, and Concerto for Orchestra.
