Bohuslav Martinů (1890–1959) was a Czech composer and one of the most significant figures in 20th-century Czech music. He worked across many genres, from symphonies and chamber music to operas and piano works. His piano cycle Loutky (Puppets, 1912–1925) is among his early compositions and inspired the puppet opera Boža v říši Loutek.

Internationally acclaimed harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani will perform works by Bach, Martinů, and Beethoven in Olomouc. The recital commemorates the 100th anniversary of Czech harpsichord legend Zuzana Růžičková.
