Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759) was a German-British Baroque composer who spent much of his career in England. He is celebrated for his operas, oratorios, and orchestral works. Among his most enduring compositions are the oratorio Messiah and the coronation anthem Zadok the Priest, featured at this concert.
