Giacomo Casanova (1725–1798) was a Venetian adventurer, diplomat, writer and philosopher. He became famous for his numerous romantic exploits across Europe, which he chronicled in his extensive memoirs Histoire de ma vie. He spent the last twelve years of his life at Duchcov Castle in Bohemia, where he wrote those memoirs.
