Marius Petipa (1818–1910) was a French-Russian ballet choreographer who spent most of his career as principal choreographer of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. He co-created the choreography of Swan Lake together with Lev Ivanov, and is also known for his work on The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.
