Dark Blue Hedgehog... Wait, Just a Little While Longer...
Werichova vila, Prague
A tragicomic theatrical revue with dance exploring the extraordinary human life of composer Jaroslav Ježek.
This multi-genre production draws on the musical legacy of Jaroslav Ježek (1906–1942), who died at 35 and left behind an extensive body of orchestral, chamber, and song compositions. His ability to move between serious music, theatre, and film work made him one of the leading Czech composers of the 20th century.
The text of the performance draws from his correspondence, available biographical literature, and friends' memories. It is not a literal biography, but rather an exploration of his creative spirit, thinking, and essence — while also serving as a platform for contemporary creators through new dramatic text, original music, and choreography.
The production develops Ježek's passion for transforming musical themes, improvisation, and working with text, fantasy, and fiction — like a colourful mosaic from the life of an artist who moved between commercial styles and the avant-garde.
