Dam of Sand

Marko has no grand plans: life in a small Croatian village suits him fine. He will probably marry his girlfriend, look after his younger brother, work with his father in the auto shop, and maybe one day win a pry-bar championship. Then Slaven returns—Marko's best childhood friend and first love—and suddenly nothing is certain anymore. The level of repressed desires rises just like the river near the village, but while the neighbors build a dam against the flood together, Marko faces his emotions completely alone.

The feature debut of director Čejen Černić Čanak premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was celebrated at the Croatian Pula festival.
