The rise and fall of the Schicht family business empire, founders of the famous soap brand with a deer. Over the lifetime of three generations of the Schicht family, their soap empire flourished, gaining renown that extended beyond the borders of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and later independent Czechoslovakia. They started in the basement of a family house and ended as co-founders of the multinational corporation Unilever, which exists to this day. In interwar Czechoslovakia, the name Schicht carried the same weight as Škoda, Baťa, or Kolben and Daněk. Besides their legendary soap with a deer, they also produced Elida cosmetics and Ceres fat. In the end, they were crushed by great historical events.
