Code Name: Ruby
Kino Ponrepo, Prague
The main characters of the film are two young people — Michal and Ruby, whose encounter will introduce the viewer to the rules and secrets of alchemy. They are chosen to find the Philosopher's Stone. During their journey, they discover something more — perhaps love, perhaps just a feeling that will fade with the morning dawn. "Love in this case will triumph over everything," says Jan Němec, "yet it is neither defined nor fulfilled."
The story unfolds not only in contemporary Czechia, but also in Washington, D.C. The film includes documentary footage from the recent past, in which the creator reveals their true historical connection. The film is both a modern fairy tale and a mystification.
