Description was written before the event
A lecture by Tashunka Baptista Dulaara about a month spent in an igloo in the Lapland tundra.
A ski journey to a frozen lake, igloo construction, and the daily reality of life in snow and ice – ice fishing beneath thick layers of ice, working with limited resources, long hours of silence, and shifting perceptions of time. Wood is scarce in the Lapland tundra, so fire is not a reliable companion. Survival depends on protecting body heat, conserving strength, and hunting as a food source.
Each day involves checking fishing holes in the ice, ice fishing, and hunting. Solitude here is not romantic – it is raw, silent, and true.
