Smoke and Mirrors

The contemporary dance ensemble 420PEOPLE presents the second premiere at Studio Maiselovka in 2025 — Smoke and Mirrors. It is a solo performance by dancer Francesca 'Amy' Amante accompanied by a solo concert of flamenco guitarist Filip Zubák. Both move and resound among glass objects that shift — they disappear and reappear.

The scenography stems from the work of visual artist Vladimíra Klumparová, through which glass became part of the creative process from the very beginning. It remained both solid and fragile at once — seemingly abstract, until by chance it gains meaning and story. Just as an illusion created by the combination of smoke and mirror can be merely an impression, so too can this story.

The choreography was created by Václav Kuneš specifically for the space of Studio Maiselovka.
