Esdras Nogueira Quintet

Brazilian baritone saxophonist Esdras Nogueira is preparing for his Czech premiere following his appearance at the WOMEX 2025 music trade fair. He will perform with his quintet on May 28, 2026 in the hall of Divadlo Dobeška as part of the Jazz Meets World concert series.

The repertoire draws from a cross-genre blend of Brazilian grooves, Afrobeat, funk, reggae, and jazz improvisation. This fusion of music and gastronomy became the theme of Nogueira's fifth album "Lá em Casa Sessions" (2024): each composition was created alongside a recipe for a specific dish, and everything was recorded live in the living room connected to the kitchen in his house in Brazil.

In spring 2026, Esdras Nogueira is also preparing his sixth album, so the Prague concert may feature entirely new material.
