took place · 23 May 2026

Větrný mlýn Nové Dvory, Bílovec

Description was written before the event

The windmill at Nové Dvory near Bílovec is a unique German-style technical monument with a double milling system – the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The wind wheel has a diameter of 16 metres, and the mill features two millstones with diameters of 3.5 and 2.9 metres. The mill ground grain and crushed feed until 1942 and has undergone extensive restoration in recent years (staircase, roof, new bearing, hopper, and original blower). The guided experiential tour takes place every Saturday at two times: 14:00 and 15:30, with a programme duration of 1 hour. Your guide is the miller himself. The tour includes a bread tasting from a local family organic farm, the opportunity to grind flour on a hand-crank mill, and a meeting with the mill's mascot – the sprite Picmoch Jeronym. Tour capacity is limited to a maximum of 15 people, so advance booking and payment at the Bílovec Tourist Information Centre (Zámecká Street, tel. +420 556 412 266 or +420 778 425 431, email: icko@kcbilovec.cz) or online at vstupenky.kcbilovec.cz is required, no later than Friday before the Saturday tour by 12:00. The tour is part of the Technotrasa project of the Moravian-Silesian Region. You can reach the mill by car from Bílovec towards Bravinné; parking is available at the Chapel of St. Martin at Nové Dvory, from which it is approximately 750 metres to the mill. The chapel is also home to the Bílovec, Nové Dvory, kaple bus stop.
