Grand Prize (2024) is a Croatian documentary film by director Anja Koprivšek, a graduation project from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. Against the backdrop of Zagreb's ballroom scene, the film follows the story of two characters: Valentina (29), an experienced voguer and co-founder of the scene, and Tea (21), a young trans man searching for his place in the community. In conservative Croatia, ballroom represents a safe space of freedom for the LGBTQ community. Tea finds support and inspiration in Valentina — she supports him through his transition, while his persistence breaks down her walls. Their relationship gradually deepens, and the young couple begins to dream of a shared future. The film premiered at the ZagrebDox 2024 festival and has since been touring international documentary and queer film festivals.
