Vepřové komety
Kaštan - Scéna Unijazzu, Prague
The nine-member band Vepřové komety draws from raw James Brown-style funk and the guitar-driven sound of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their songs blend playfulness, surrealist poetry, and Czech humour. The lineup features brothers Jelínek (guitar-vocals and drums), brothers Paukert (bass and tenor saxophone), Adam Weiss (lead guitar), and Matěj Drs (keyboards), complemented by guest horn players.
The band formed as a childhood group around Řevnice and Berounka in 2004 and gradually explored folk, big beat, punk, rock'n'roll, reggae, and funk. In 2008 they released their first single under Ondřej Soukup's direction, in 2011 they won the Futureline competition, and in October 2017 released their debut album "Funk ční ze mě" on Championship Music.
In February 2026, the band released their second album "Nekrmte monstra" on vinyl through Polí5 label. The record offers ten new songs – from funk pieces through jazz and folk ballads to rap and pseudo-Indian mantras featuring guest vocalist Bára Zmeková. The concert at Kaštan is part of the tour for this album.
