HONZA PONOCNÝ and his One Man Show "Circus Ponorka"

took place · 22 May 2026

L´ART Café, Dvůr Králové nad Labem

Description was written before the event

Honza Ponocný is a composer, producer, guitarist and vocalist – and the sole member of the Circus Ponorka orchestra. On stage he needs nothing else: with the help of a guitar, two microphones and loopers, he layers the sound of an entire band in real time – drums, bass, several guitar parts and multi-voice choirs. The result is surprisingly full and vibrant. Circus Ponorka concerts are renowned for transforming this quiet man in private into a captivating showman on stage, who entertains the audience with a torrent of music, jokes and ideas.

Honza Ponocný is one of the most renowned and consistently busy Czech guitarists and producers. He has collaborated with Ivan Král, Meky Žbirka, Václav Koubek and Anna K., produced albums for Ivan Hlas, Lenka Filipová, Martin Max and Jana Kirschner. He has contributed to more than 40 CDs and produced platinum albums for Universal. His compositions have been recorded by Ewa Farna, Helena Vondráčková and Ivan Hlas, among others.

He has long collaborated with film directors Alice Nellis and Petr Zelenka – for the music to the films Revival and Mamas & Papas he received Czech Lion nominations. In autumn 2024 he released his fourth album Lost Angeles, which contains songs from the film Buko (Alice Nellis) and the series Dabing Street (Petr Zelenka), as well as the single Joyride, Joyride with British singer-songwriter Emily Burns. The album was released on CD and vinyl. Honza Ponocný is presenting this very album as part of his current tour.
