Open Forests Day 2026
Město Boží Dar, Boží Dar
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the 5th edition of the nationwide Open Forests Day event will take place in Boží Dar, organized by the Association of Owners of Municipal, Private and Church Forests in the Czech Republic (SVOL) and its members. The event is held simultaneously at 26 locations across the country. The programme in Boží Dar includes a guided walk for the whole family with a forester covering approximately 5 km through the city's forests, complemented by a demonstration of forestry equipment. The total duration of the event is approximately 2–3 hours. The route is not suitable for prams. The forests of Boží Dar are located at an altitude of around 1000 m above sea level in the tourist-rich Krušné Mountains area – half of the forests lie within the Božídarské Rašeliniště National Nature Reserve. Visitors can meet directly with forest owners and managers, learn how the forests are managed, and gain insight into the daily work of foresters in times of climate change. The event is intended for the general public and families with children and takes place in any weather. Parking is available at a public car park in Boží Dar.
