Pavel Forman (born 11 November 1977 in Bruntál) is a painter, poet, and educator. He studied at the Universität der Künste Berlin (2003–2006) and the Faculty of Education at Palacký University in Olomouc, completed an internship at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, and spent academic residencies in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Lithuania. In his youth, he founded a heavy metal band at grammar school where he played guitar. He currently teaches painting at the Faculty of Education at the University of Ostrava and exhibits annually in the Czech Republic and abroad. His work is characterized by visual richness and sophisticated color aggression; his technique is oil on canvas, and he also uses charcoal drawing. He draws inspiration from pop art, contemporary pop culture, and street art. He is unafraid to depict iconic figures of 20th-century Czech society – for example, T. G. Masaryk, Karel Gott, or Hurvínek. In 2009, he received the highest award for young artists under 35 at the XV Biennale de Cerveira in Portugal. The central theme of the Brno exhibition is metamorphosis and transformation: Forman explores the inner changes of human beings and shows how a human becomes the animal that each of us carries within. The greatest attention at the opening was drawn to the pair of Spejbl and Hurvínek in Nazi uniforms. The exhibition at Galerie Graciano at Veselá 39 in Brno runs from 10 April to 29 May 2026. The gallery is open every weekday Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:30 and on Friday from 10:00 to 17:00. The works are also for sale.
