Groove Army - DrumCircle

Groove Army – DrumCircle is a school concert as part of the 21st International Jazz Festival Jazz Černošice 2026 (May 14–24). The event takes place on Thursday, May 21, in two sessions — at 10:00 and 11:00 — at Club Kino in Černošice. The programme is led by experienced lecturer and facilitator Tokhi, a drummer and percussionist performing on the international stage, founder of the "Drums in Schools" project and the Groove Army drum project. Groove Army has been, for example, the official programme of the Ice Hockey World Championship, the Football Euro, and advanced in the competition "Czechia Slovakia's Got Talent". Tokhi's lecturer in the DrumCircle field is Arthur Hull, the "father" of modern Drum Circle drumming methodology, originally from the USA. Students and teachers, with the lecturer's help, will create a musical orchestra that transitions into the actual performance. The goal is not primarily the development of music education, but the strengthening of social relationships — the programme is therefore suitable for all classes, not just music classes. The facilitation approach varies depending on whether it is for primary or secondary school. It is scientifically proven that group drumming connects the right and left hemispheres of the brain and helps better information absorption.
