BRNKÁNÍ On the Red Carpet

Brnkání is a non-competitive four-day theatre festival and workshop for children's theatre groups, held annually at the turn of May and June in Brno since 1994. It is one of the largest events of its kind in the Czech Republic. The festival takes place in three venues: SVČ Lužánky, Divadlo Barka, and Divadlo Polárka. The organizers are children and adults from DDS Brnkadla (Brnkadla Children's Theatre Group) from SVČ Lužánky, with guest groups from throughout the Czech Republic and abroad. The festival is open to both beginning and experienced groups, for children approximately 6 to 16 years old and their leaders. The programme includes theatre performances, discussions for children and adults, theatre workshops, happenings, and other accompanying activities. The event is held under the patronage of SVČ Lužánky and with the support of the City of Brno and the Czech Ministry of Culture.
