A conversation with Martin Souček, founder of the Domestici project, ultramarathon cyclist, and philanthropist, is part of the lecture series "How to Survive Healthy" organized by the Turnov Cultural Centre in collaboration with FOKUS Turnov. Martin Souček interrupted his business career years ago and set himself the challenge of crossing the USA by bicycle in the RAAM race — one of the world's toughest cycling competitions. At the same time, he wanted to open up the topic of dying and raise 10 million crowns for hospices. Instead of a clear plan came doubts, failures, and moments when it almost all fell apart. It was during this journey that the Domestici project emerged, which today brings together thousands of people in movement and helping one another — in total, over 11 million crowns have been raised. The guests of the conversation are Petra Vrbová, an emergency medicine doctor in Semilech who herself faces a fatal cancer diagnosis and has decided to connect her story with Domestici, and Lucie Stránská, a healthcare coordinator at the hospice in Semilech. The subject of this open yet sensitive discussion will be care and dignified support during difficult times.
