Laco Déczi is a Slovak-American jazz trumpeter, composer, and painter born in 1938 in Bernolák, Slovakia. Since entering the professional music scene over fifty years ago, he has been its enfant terrible, and his reputation for exceptionality has endured to this day. Against the prevailing West Coast jazz of the time, he began championing explosive hard bop in the style of his great idol Clifford Brown. He later merged this style into an impressive synthesis with Miles Davis's electric jazz-rock fusion, in whose spirit Déczi's music continues to evolve. In 1985 he emigrated to the USA, where he lives and creates. His band Celula New York plays energetic fusion jazz with influences of funk and Latin American music. The current lineup features Laco Déczi on trumpet, his son Vaico Déczi on drums, bassist Michael Krásný, and keyboardist Jan Aleš. Since 1990, Laco has regularly toured the Czech Republic and Slovakia twice a year. Entrance to Zelenáčova Šopa from 18:00, concert begins at 19:00.
