Description was written before the event

A concert by the Opole Philharmonic (Filharmonia Opolska im. Józefa Elsnera) at the Reduta in Olomouc will unite Czech and Polish musical traditions. The evening's programme opens with the overture to the opera Jagiełło in Tęczyn by Józef Elsner, teacher of Frédéric Chopin. This is followed by the Suite in A major op. 98b by Antonín Dvořák, inspired by his American period following the success of the New World Symphony. The climax of the evening will be Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, regarded as a harbinger of the approaching Beethoven Year 2027. The final movement, the Ode to Joy, will be performed by the Moravian Theatre Olomouc Choir conducted by Michael Dvořák, together with soloists: soprano Helena Beránková, mezzo-soprano Jana Sýkorová, tenor Raman Hasymau, and baritone Daniel Kfelíř. The event is organized in collaboration with the Polish Institute and supported by the European Union through the Interreg Czech-Poland 2021–2027 programme, as part of a project strengthening cultural ties between the Opole and Olomouc regions.
