Městské muzeum Krnov, Krnov
from 30 Kč · ≈ 1.2 €
An exhibition of wooden reliefs by Jarmila Haldová (*1951) presents a unique collection of 132 coloured relief images of Czech rulers and their wives — from the Přemyslids through the Luxembourgs, Jagellons to the Habsburgs. The reliefs are carved from linden wood measuring 30 × 50 cm and painted with tempera colours. The artist has been working on this collection since 1997 and holds a certificate for setting a Czech record — the most panel relief images of Czech rulers and their wives. The reliefs are based on historical artistic sources and executed with historical accuracy. Jarmila Haldová is from Prague and moved to Sedloňov in the Orlické Mountains in 1975, where she continues to live and create. Besides the rulers collection, she is known as an illustrator of fairy tales, painter of botanical subjects, and creator of nativity scenes; she has also created collections of figures from Greek mythology and characters from Božena Němcová's "Granny". The exhibition includes an educational programme for primary school pupils (grades 1–2) with worksheets adapted to their age, introducing them to the rulers and a brief overview of historical development. An accompanying catalogue has been published. The exhibition runs from 10 April to 7 June 2026, open daily except Mondays, 9:00–12:00 and 12:30–17:00. Admission: 50 CZK (adults), 30 CZK (children, students, seniors 65+). The Krnov City Card can be used when purchasing tickets.
