About the venue: Obecní dům

The Municipal House on náměstí Republiky is one of Prague's most celebrated Art Nouveau buildings, constructed in 1905–1912 to designs by Antonín Balšánek and Osvald Polívka. Its interiors were decorated by leading Czech artists including Alfons Mucha and Ladislav Šaloun. The centrepiece is Smetana Hall, a 1,200-seat concert venue and home of the Prague Spring festival. Czechoslovak independence was proclaimed here on 28 October 1918.
