From the Taishō Period to the End of World War II / Japanese Collections in Czechia and Europe
Národní muzeum, Prague
A lecture from the ten-part series of popular-educational double lectures "The Story of Japan: History, People, Faith, Art" organized by the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures. This installment focuses on two themes: the first part covers Japanese history from the Taishō period (1912–1926) through the militarist Shōwa era to the end of World War II in 1945, while the second part examines Japanese collections in Czechia and Europe – their history, origins, and current state. The series as a whole guides listeners through key periods of Japanese history and selected topics of everyday life, culture, and religion. Tickets can be purchased online or at the museum box office.
