The XVIII. Triennial of Artistic Book Binding opens on April 21, 2026 in the Historic Building of the National Museum and presents the winning works from the competition held in 2025. The traditional competitive exhibition is organized by the Association of Czech Bookbinders and the installation at the National Museum marks the culmination of a traveling exhibition that began last year in Třebíč and continued at venues such as the Jindřichohradecko Museum. This year's edition is also a jubilee – commemorating 50 years since the first triennial, held in Třebíč in 1973. The Triennial of Artistic Book Binding is a competitive exhibition of artistic handcrafted book bindings held once every three years, featuring works created in the intervening period. The exhibition aims to promote book binding as an artistic craft, cultivate the craftsmanship and artistic standards of handcraft bookbinders, and showcase both traditional and new binding and decorative techniques. The competition is open to both organized and independent bookbinders from the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as students and professionals. The exhibition is accessible as part of regular admission to the Historic Building of the National Museum.
