Národní muzeum, Prague

The National Museum Expeditions is a smaller exhibition displayed in the vitrines of the eastern courtyard of the Historical Building of the National Museum on Wenceslas Square in Prague. The exhibition presents the expeditions of the National Museum, united by a desire for knowledge that transcends borders. It showcases selected significant historical expeditions documenting the institution's long research tradition, as well as contemporary expeditions. Some of the oldest research journeys recall the expeditions of A. Frič to Banat (1853) and Dalmatia (1856), accompanied by acquired zoological specimens. The difficulty of these journeys is illustrated by the natural science expedition to Iran using the museum's Praga V3S vehicle in the 1970s, or pioneering expeditions among the Mapuche to South America. Contemporary National Museum expeditions will take visitors to diverse corners of the world on almost every continent, where they can learn about the latest natural science and archaeological discoveries by researchers. The exhibition is part of the National Museum Complex, and admission is included in the price of a ticket to the complex. Tickets can be purchased online, at a machine, or at the ticket office.
