Description was written before the event

Europeana is a theatrical dramatization of the eponymous novel by Patrik Ouředník, which won the Lidové noviny poll for the most interesting book of 2001, was nominated for the Magnesia Litera award for fiction, and has been translated into more than twenty languages. The production portrays twentieth-century European history with detachment, humor, and biting irony. In the original dramatization by Dora Štědroňová and Jan Mikulášek, a gripping commentary on the past century unfolds—a century shaped by war, the invention of the bra, and perforated toilet paper alike. Banalities and pivotal moments are given equal weight, resulting in a fresh perspective on our past. Through humor, irony, mystification, and precise facts, a bizarre testimony to the twentieth-century world emerges. The production is directed by Jan Mikulášek, with sets and costumes designed by Marek Cpin. Cast: Jiří Vyorálek, Jan Hájek, Jiří Kniha, Petr Jeništa, Miloslav König, Magdalena Sidonová, Anežka Kubátová, and Dita Kaplanová. The premiere took place on September 28, 2013.
