From 3 March 2026 through the end of June, the underground spaces of Šatlava in the Mázhaus exhibition space in Pardubice will host a children's exhibition about Easter and Czech spring traditions. In a playful way, it explores the origins of Easter, explains Carnival, presents the May pole, and features several witches. Visitors will learn not only about spring customs but also summer traditions and practices that were part of village life for centuries. For older visitors, there is a letter-hunt game that guides them through the exhibition and highlights its details. The exhibition also includes an outdoor space with spring decorations and a tree where visitors can tie a ribbon and, according to folk traditions, welcome spring. Concurrently, from 3 March to 6 April, the ground floor of Mázhaus hosts a Spring Exhibition of students from the Polabiny Art School in Pardubice. Šatlava is located in a unique underground space of a former prison in a historic building (No. 3) on Pernštýnské Square, originally Gothic and rebuilt in Renaissance style after 1538. Entry to the Mázhaus spaces is free; admission to Šatlava is 50 CZK per person (children under 3 free). School groups require advance booking at eu@ticpardubice.cz or tel. 734 783 596. The Mázhaus programme is created in cooperation with non-profit organisations, amateur and professional artists, and Pardubice schools.
