Tourist Bus to Ještěd 2026

Tourist line 79 from Liberec's Horní Hanychov to the Ještědka car park operates from 3 April to 1 November 2026. It serves as replacement transport for the cable car, which has been out of service since a tragic accident in autumn 2021. The line is part of the integrated transport system IDOL and has operated as a regular seasonal line since 2024.

The bus departs from the final stop of tram line 3 in Horní Hanychov and stops at "Horní Hanychov, u lanovky" and "Horní Hanychov, Na Výpřeži". The final stop is at Ještědka car park at almost 930 m above sea level, from where it is approximately 750–800 metres on foot to the Ještěd summit along the red hiking trail. From Ještědka car park you can also continue along the red trail in the opposite direction along the ridge to Pláně pod Ještědem, or take the blue trail towards Světlá pod Ještědem.

Operating hours: in April and October it runs on weekends and public holidays at hourly intervals; in May, June and September daily at hourly intervals; in July and August daily at a more frequent 30-minute interval. Departures are timed to connect with the tram line from Liberec city centre, which passes near the railway station – ensuring public transport connections even from more distant parts of the Liberec region.

Fares are 67 CZK for cashless payment or 84 CZK in cash. The ticket is valid for 180 minutes and allows transfers and return journeys. Tickets can be purchased via the Idolka mobile app, when boarding public transport in Liberec (by selecting "to another zone" – Ještěd), at self-service machines in Liberec public transport vehicles, or directly from the driver. IDOL network passes and international EURO-NISA-Ticket+ are accepted. Tickets valid only for the Liberec zone are valid only to the Na Výpřeži stop. For a trip only to Výpřež, standard Liberec public transport fares apply (34 CZK / 28 CZK cashless).

The bus is wheelchair accessible and allows pram transport. Bicycles, scooters and wheelchairs cannot be transported.
