A photographic exhibition by Milan Vlk in the salon of the Municipal Information Centre at Chodské náměstí 96 in Domažlice is part of the Freedom Celebrations commemorating the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Domažlice by the American Army. The Freedom Celebrations 2026 took place from April 29 to May 8, 2026. The centre of activities was the garden below Chodský Castle, where a military camp was set up with period uniforms and weapons, and daily at 15:00 there were staged scenes from the war years. On May 5, a convoy of historic vehicles arrived at Míru Square, following the tracks of the US Army in the Chodsko region (11:00–14:30), organized by the Domažlice Military History Club. This was followed by a memorial service at the Monument to Liberation by the American Army in Chodská Street and a ceremonial procession to the town hall with wreaths laid at the memorial plaque of Matt Konopa. The official part of the programme (hosted by Alena Marešová) began at 13:00 on Míru Square. At 15:00, ensembles from the Jindřích Jindřích Domažlice Music School performed, and at 17:00 the bluegrass band Young Sparks played. At the Čakan cinema at 18:00, the theatrical performance "The Accidental Hero: Náhodný hrdina" was presented, in which Patrick Dewane retells the story of his grandfather Matt Konopa, who liberated Domažlice. The exhibition of photographs by Milan Vlk in the information centre is freely accessible during all MIC opening hours.
