Maxipes Fík's Birthday Celebration in Kadaň 2026

The annual celebration of Maxipes Fík's birthday takes place on May 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the AmFík amphitheatre on Maxipes Fík Embankment in Kadaň. The event also marks International Children's Day and attracts approximately 7,000 visitors each year. Maxipes Fík celebrates his birthday in Kadaň because he was born in the nearby village of Ahníkov — which disappeared due to coal mining — and his spiritual father, writer Rudolf Čechura, had a close connection to Kadaň. The festival has been held since 2005. Children can enjoy musical and theatrical performances on the main stage, competitions, a bouncy castle, pony rides, and the traditional World Championship in Jumping for Something. Food and beverage stalls operate throughout the day. The event is organized by Kadaň Cultural Centre.
