The exhibition "Like Egg to Egg?" is on display from January 17 in the exhibition hall of the Minorite monastery on Přemyslovců Street in Znojmo and will run until the Easter period. It presents eggs from several perspectives — natural science, developmental, and cultural-symbolic. Visitors will learn how diverse the world of bird eggs can be, varying in size, shape, color, and structure. Approximately 11,000 bird species live on Earth today, and the diversity of their eggs is astounding — some are perfectly camouflaged, others strikingly colored, and some surprise with their shape or size. The exhibition also explores mammalian embryos and reminds us that only a few mammal species still lay eggs. The third part of the exhibition examines eggs on a symbolic and mythological level: many cultures perceive eggs as symbols of beginning, fertility, spring, or rebirth. Visitors will see not only Easter decorated eggs but also unique objects created from eggs and eggshells from various parts of the world — the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures in Prague has lent valuable exhibits for this section. The exhibition was created by zoologist Antonín Reiter of the Moravian Museum. A guided tour with the exhibition co-author takes place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Open daily Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM (lunch break 11:30 AM–12:00 PM) and on weekends and holidays from 10 AM to 5 PM.
