The Gallery of Central Bohemia (GASK) opened a new long-term collection exhibition titled Labyrinth on June 29, 2024, on the occasion of the gallery's 60th anniversary (planned through 2034). Curated by Richard Drury, the exhibition is conceived as an invitation to journey and loosely draws from Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" (1904–1987), an American religionist and ethnologist who explored the common foundations of myths, legends, and religious teachings. The visitor-pilgrim walks through two main wings of the exhibition (Galleries 2 and 4) and encounters twenty-one thematic sections devoted to various forms of knowledge, self-knowledge, and identification. The collection comprises a thematically organized selection of artworks from GASK's holdings from the early 20th century to the present, with emphasis on acquisitions from the past decade. The architectural design creates contrasts of light and shadow, tension and release—from dramatically dense impressions to empty spaces for rest. The exhibition builds on the award-winning project "States of Mind / Behind the Image," which received the national Gloria musaealis award in 2015. Admission to the permanent exhibition: full 120 CZK, reduced (children 6–15 years, seniors 65+) 60 CZK, family (2 adults + max. 3 children) 300 CZK.
