Silver Screens of Northern Pilsen Region – In Search of Lost Glory of Village Cinemas

The Museum and Gallery of Northern Pilsen Region in Mariánská Týnice invites you on May 13, 2026 to the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Cinema in Northern Pilsen Region" (listed in the aggregator as "Silver Screens of Northern Pilsen Region – In Search of Lost Glory of Village Cinemas"). The exhibition is installed in the museum's refectory and will run until August 9, 2026. It presents archival photographs, posters, projection equipment from former projection booths, and personal memories of witnesses. It maps the stories of open-air cinemas and cinema halls from Kralovice, Plas, Manětín and Žihle, as well as screenings in small villages visited by mobile and traveling cinemas. The exhibition takes place in the Baroque refectory of the museum, which is located in the grounds of the national cultural monument Mariánská Týnice near Kralovice – a former pilgrimage site of a Cistercian monastery, listed as a national cultural monument since 2018.
