Národní muzeum, Prague

An interactive exhibition in the New Building of the National Museum commemorates Františka Plamínková (1875–1942) – a teacher, politician, journalist, pioneer of women's rights, and fighter against Nazism – on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of her birth. The exhibition is conceived as a living dialogue between past and present and is aimed especially at young people. Visitors are greeted by a majestic marble bust by sculptor Karla Vobišová. On display is part of the legacy donated to the museum by Plamínková's sister – a senator's pass, an iconic work briefcase, and a travel passport from the Protectorate period. Also exhibited are photographs from various stages of her life, copies of letters including a famous letter to Adolf Hitler, and her personal library of over 700 volumes with authentic annotations. Her private life is illustrated by a deck chair from the garden of her friend Albína Honzáková in Dobřichovice and a bench where visitors can sit themselves. The exhibition runs until 31 August 2026.
