The National Library of the Czech Republic celebrates 550 years of Czech printing and invites visitors to the Svět knihy Praha 2026 book fair to a self-service workshop at its exhibition stand. The fair runs May 14–17, 2026 at the Křižík Pavilions at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, daily from 9:30 to 19:00 (May 17 only until 16:00). At the National Library stand, you can experience the magic of traditional printing craft: create your own postcard or original message by printing on a small hand press and take home a unique souvenir. The programme also includes a lecture "The Origins and Development of Printing" (May 14 at 13:00 in the Professional Forum), which will explore the technological revolution of printing in European and Czech contexts, the beginnings of typography in Bohemia, and the first Czech printing house in Plzeň. A valid ticket to the Svět knihy Praha 2026 fair is required for entry to the event.
