The Evening of Open Cellars takes place in the unique spaces of the Benedictine cellars beneath Broumov Monastery – a complex network of cellar rooms under the former monastery gymnasium building, which now houses a wine gallery and wine shop. The cellars are open for wine tastings and sales, featuring a large selection of Czech and international wines. Entry to the cellars is through the Rose Courtyard, opposite the monastery restaurant U Tří růží. Please note: cash payment only. The Benedictine Monastery of Broumov, a national cultural monument perched on a rocky spur above the Stěnava river in the centre of Broumov, was founded in the 14th century. In the early 18th century, Kryštof Dientzenhofer and his son Kilián Ignác rebuilt the complex in the Baroque style. The year-round tour circuit includes the Church of St. Adalbert, a refectory housing a unique 1651 copy of the Turin Shroud – the only one in Central Europe north of the Alps – and a historic library. The monastery is home to the Educational and Cultural Centre Broumov, which organises concerts, exhibitions and educational programmes.
