The Zoo Story is a production by Divadlo Ungelt based on Edward Albee's groundbreaking 1958 play. The new translation by Pavel Dominik tells the story of two men who meet on a bench in New York's Central Park after visiting the zoo, exploring the isolation of modern man. Directed by Jiří Pokorný, the cast features David Švehlík (Jerry) and Ondřej Brousek (Peter). Dramaturgy: Pavel Ondruch, set design: Jana Hauskrechtová, music: Nikos Engonidis. The production, approximately 80 minutes long, has celebrated its 100th performance and the rights have been extended. The performance on May 21, 2026 takes place on the Summer Stage of Divadlo Ungelt on Nový Svět (Hradčany), not on the Stone Stage. Edward Albee holds special significance for Ungelt – his Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? has had a total of 388 performances since its 1999 premiere.
