HAMLETEK

Hamletek is a production by the Minor Theatre on the Small Stage, designed for audiences aged 8 and up. The story follows a boy named Kuba, nicknamed Hamletek, whose parents are separating and who must move with his mother to Radotín. The production is loosely based on William Shakespeare's most famous play and employs Hamlet's favourite technique — direct dialogue with the audience. The directing and dramaturgy duo Janek Lesák and Natálie Preslová Strýčková addresses the theme of parental divorce, which approximately half of all children in the Czech Republic experience, with humour and wit. The script incorporates excerpts from Shakespeare's Hamlet in Zdeněk Urbánek's translation. The music was composed and performed by Ivo Sedláček, and the set was designed by Kamil Bělohlávek. The cast features Ondřej Nosálek and Ivana Machalová. The performance runs for 50 minutes without an interval.
