Geological Day
Klarov Praha 1, Prague
free entry
The Czech Geological Survey organizes an annual Geological Day – an event for children and adults focused on geology in science and practice. In 2026, the event takes place on Friday, June 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Czech Geological Survey site in Prague's Klárův (Klárov 3, Prague 1), in the historic building of the former Klárův Institute, near the Malostranská public transport stop. During the interactive programme, visitors can try out everything geology has to offer – from microscopes and specialized analyses, through traditional field equipment to drones and satellite imagery. Friday morning is dedicated to school groups, and the doors open to the public in the afternoon. The programme includes gold panning, assembling a geological map, virtual reality used in geology, and a tour of the drone fleet. Over 60 employees of the Czech Geological Survey and partner organizations are involved in organizing the event. Most of the programme takes place in outdoor spaces – in case of bad weather, an umbrella or raincoat is recommended. Admission is free. The event has been held since 2019.
