Vodňany Fishermen's Days 2026

The 34th edition of Vodňany Fishermen's Days takes place on 21–23 May 2026 at multiple venues throughout Vodňany. This event, with more than thirty years of history, has evolved into the city's largest annual celebration and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The main organizer is Vodňany Municipal Cultural Centre, with support from local organizations, schools, clubs, and businesses. The three-day programme combines the tradition of fish farming with culture and entertainment.
Thursday 21 May opens with school programmes, film screenings, and traditional competitions, including a mass for fishermen. Friday 22 May features cultural performances on the town square and in the Škorna area – concerts and activities for children and adults, the Kraken board-game club opens at MEVPIS, and the first band performances take place at Dvorek U Koníčka in the KGV library. Saturday 23 May is the main celebration day on Svobody Square and in the Blanice sports complex – offering all-day music, a street food festival, guided tours and open monuments, family programmes, evening concerts, and a light show. A major attraction is the Open Day of the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection at the University of South Bohemia (9–15). The event involves the Municipal Gallery and Museum, Gelasta Vodňanský Library, Blanice sports complex, Secondary Fisheries School, and other institutions. Admission to all cultural programmes is free. On Saturday, free shuttle transport operates throughout the city and designated parking areas are available. An information booth is located on Svobody Square.
