The Plzeň Philharmonic under the baton of chief conductor Chuhei Iwasaki will perform Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's monumental vocal-symphonic work – Symphony No. 2 in B-flat major, op. 52 "Hymn of Praise" (Lobgesang). This spiritually-infused composition, often compared to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, combines orchestral power with compelling choral and solo passages. The performance will feature sopranos Barbora Perná and Jana Hrochová and tenor Aleš Briscein, together with the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno under the direction of choirmaster Petr Fiala. The concert is part of the Plzeň Philharmonic's 2025/2026 subscription season and is marked as exclusive. The concert duration is approximately 90 minutes.

About the venue: Měšťanská beseda

Měšťanská beseda is a Neo-Renaissance building with Art Nouveau décor, erected by the Pilsen citizens' association in 1901 and ceremonially opened on 29 December of that year. Following an extensive renovation completed in 2005, it serves as one of the most important cultural centres in Pilsen. The venue houses several halls and salons, the Beseda Cinema, the Jonáš Theatre and an Art Nouveau café, with a total capacity of over 1,000 persons. Concerts, theatre performances, balls, film screenings, festivals, lectures and children's events take place here almost daily. The building is a listed cultural monument and received the Building of the Year 2005 award.
