Step by Step to Our (Famous) Ancestors

The exhibition titled "Step by Step to Our (Famous) Ancestors – Genealogical Sources in the Archives of Central and Western Bohemia" invites visitors on a journey into the past and shows how to gradually uncover stories of human lives recorded in archival sources. It presents the possibilities and directions of genealogical research through ten milestones of human life, whose traces can be followed in these sources. The exhibition introduces visitors to basic genealogical sources, archival collections, and the archival network of the Czech Republic through concrete examples of archival materials related to the names of well-known public figures. The exhibition also includes selected archival materials from the Rokycany region, including parish registers. The exhibition clearly demonstrates what types of sources can be consulted not only for genealogical research but also for the preparation of diploma and academic papers. The opening reception takes place on March 12, 2026 at 5 p.m. in the small exhibition hall at J. Knihy Street 146; the exhibition itself is accessible from March 13 to July 7, 2026. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
