The third part of Wagner's Ring Cycle follows the productions of The Rhinegold (2023) and The Valkyrie (2025). Director Barrie Kosky presents the story of a young man raised by a scheming dwarf, unaware of his origins, who sets out on a quest for a shattered sword, a dragon guarding a cursed ring, and a Valkyrie trapped in an enchanted sleep.
Tenor Andreas Schager sings the title role, with baritone Christopher Maltman as Wotan (the Wanderer). Conductor Antonio Pappano, the Royal Opera House's former music director, returns to the podium.
The performance is part of the Opera in Cinema 2025/2026 season (including subscription options) and is screened as a recording on the cinema screen.
