Kino Lucerna is the oldest continuously operating cinema in the Czech Republic, opened on 3 December 1909 inside the Art Nouveau Lucerna Palace on Vodičkova Street. The Great Hall seats 453 and is equipped with 4K projection and Dolby Surround 7.1. From 1926 the cinema was run by Václav and Miloš Havel; in 1929 it became the first Prague cinema to screen a sound film. Today it hosts Czech and international premieres, festival screenings, and gala events.
