Jana Ševčíková is a Czech documentary filmmaker known for ethnographically oriented films about isolated communities and vanishing traditions. Her films Piemule and Starověrci portray a Czech minority in the Romanian Banat and a community of Russian Old Believers in the Danube Delta. Her work is characterised by a contemplative pace and a respectful, observational approach to everyday life.
