Jiří Hanzelka

Jiří Hanzelka (1920–2003) was a Czech traveller and writer. Together with Miroslav Zikmund, he undertook a journey across Africa and Latin America in a Tatra 87 car between 1947 and 1950, followed by further expeditions to Asia. He documented his travels in a series of widely read travelogues that became hugely popular in Czechoslovakia.

Faces of the Orient

A photographic exhibition in the Náprstek Museum courtyard documents African expeditions in the spirit of legendary travellers Hanzelka and Zikmund. The free outdoor installation runs until the end of May.
