About

Karel Jaromír Erben (1811–1870) was a Czech poet, folklorist, and historian. He is best known for his collection of ballads Kytice (A Bouquet of Folk Tales), drawn from Czech folk tradition. His poetry inspired many composers, including Antonín Dvořák, who set his text Svatební košile as a cantata.
